We included funding for the Imagination Library in our 2002 annual campaign. It proved to be the driving force in our campaign. We made the program visible during our campaign by having the books at company rallies. At these rallies you could see the face of a parent light up when they picked up the books that will be sent to their newborn child! The key strategy for connecting to our donors was to give them an opportunity to sign up for the free books at the same time we were asking them to donate to United Way. Dolly’s Imagination Library also opened new doors for United Way campaigns in companies, educational institutions, and other organizations.
